Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales founded in France.

1845

The Missionaries arrive in India and begin missionary activities.

1957

The Seminary was started at Karlavattom, Trivandrum.

1967

SFS Seminary established at Ettumanoor.

2017

Golden Jubilee Celebrations (50 Years).

Peter Marie Mermier

Our Founder (1790 - 1862)

Blessed Peter Marie Mermier founded the MSFS in Annecy, France, in 1838 — dedicating his life to forming priests and serving the poor.

Founded by Peter Marie Mermier on 24th June 1838 in Annecy, France, the MSFS are diocesan priests and brothers dedicated to the evangelization of the poor. Inspired by St. Francis de Sales, our charism is “zeal for souls with gentleness and humility.”

Diocese of Vijayapuram

Our Ecclesiastical Home

The Diocese of Vijayapuram was erected on 3rd November 2010 by the Holy See, carving out its territory from the erstwhile Diocese of Kottayam.

Guided by the gospel values and the pastoral vision of our bishops, the diocese walks together in faith, hope and love, witnessing Christ through service.
